A few hours after defining the draw for the first and second phases of the Copa Libertadores, Conmebol announced the date of the clashes. Champion of the 2024 edition, Botafogo will make his debut on February 18, at 9:30 p.m., against a representative from Bolivia. The return will take place a week later, on the 25th of the same month, at the same time, at the Nilton Santos stadium.
Botafogo has three possibilities of confrontation in this stage of the Libertadores: The Strongest (if they are champions of the Copa Paceña or if the title goes to Bolívar), Nacional de Potosí or Blooming (which will take the place if they win the tournament). In the first two scenarios, the club travels to La Paz or Potosí, places with severe altitudes. If you take the third rival, you play at sea level, in Santa Cruz de La Sierra.
The curiosity is located in the same country on the way to Botafogo. In 2024, the year of the title, Mais Tradicional began its journey, also in the preliminary phase, against Aurora, from Bolivia: 1-1, in Cochabamba, and 6-0, in Engenho de Dentro.
If they cross the Andes, Botafogo, in the worst case scenario, will participate in the Copa Sudamericana. In the third phase, Mais Tradicional meets a representative from Ecuador (LDU or Barcelona de Guayaquil) or Argentinos Juniors (ARG).
Glorioso will not decide the series in Colosso do Subúrbio if the rival is LDU due to the Conmebol ranking. This year, in the confrontation between the two teams, the Ecuadorians emerged victorious in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
