The lawyer and activist Natalia Szermeta Boulos, wife of the Prime Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Guilherme Boulos (PSol), will run for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies in the 2026 elections. Without wanting to leave her post, the portfolio holder is betting on the transfer of her votes to her partner.
“(Natalia) will be a candidate for federal deputy and I think she has considerable chances of inheriting part of those voices from the periphery, from the social movement, that our group has, which includes dozens of community leaders spread across São Paulo and the metropolitan region,” the minister said in a conversation with journalists this Friday (12/12).
Boulos ruled out the possibility of leaving the government to run for office. In 2022, he was elected federal deputy with the highest number of votes in São Paulo, with more than a million votes. If he were to run for office again, he would have to resign from his position in April, under disqualification rules.

“My desire is not to be a candidate. I think I have a responsibility in the capital and I know the responsibility that not only me, but other political leaders of the left and the progressive camp of São Paulo, must create a strong platform for the re-election of President Lula, to fight in the Senate, which will be a war next year, to fight for the government of São Paulo, but I want to do it from here and not as a candidate,” he said. underlined.
He also cited federal MP Erika Hilton (PSol-SP) as a parliamentarian who could attract votes for the party. The minister also defended a “coalition” of the progressive camp to expand representation in the Senate and avoid the domination of the far right in the House.
“There is a far-right working group trying to win the Senate to blackmail the judiciary. It’s not because of a national project, it’s not because of popular agendas, it’s not because they want to approve the end of 6×1. It’s because they want to put the knife in the neck of the judiciary to grant amnesty to the putschists. It’s bad,” he said.
