Bradesco will end its home office arrangements in the investment and treasury areas, which together have about 900 employees. According to the Sao Paulo Bank Workers Union, 100% in-person work will be carried out as of January 2nd.
Currently, the bank has 50% of its more than 82,000 employees working hybrid shifts for three or four days in person.
In a memo, Bradesco informed that the definition of the routine is guided by the leadership of each region, which defines the ideal matrix of in-person and remote days based on operational specifications.
According to the union’s calculations, the number of employees in the Investment Department is 844, and the Treasury Department includes 50 other employees in banks. They all live in the capital, São Paulo, and according to the organization, they were angry about this change.
“This change is causing huge impacts on the routine and quality of life of these bank employees, who are rightly angry about the change, and it is bad news at the end of the year for them and their families,” said Neva Ribeiro, president of the São Paulo Bank Workers Union. “The union wants to hear from these bank employees, and determine the next steps of the mobilization movement, which puts pressure on the bank to negotiate.”
For the union, any personal return must take place with “appropriate structural and organizational conditions, ensuring health, safety and quality of work for all.”
A public session with unionized bank employees is scheduled for the ninth day.
“Bradesco always seeks to balance in-person and remote presence, focusing on people’s productivity and well-being,” the bank said in a note.
Last month, Nubank announced the end of the remote work model and fired employees after confusion at a meeting on the topic. The move caused an uproar among workers, who disliked regulations on working face-to-face for two days a week from July 2026 and three days from January 2027.
According to the rules announced at the digital bank, 70% of employees will be affected by the change in the current format, which requires working in person for only one week every quarter.
