Colégio Brasil Canada, a Brazilian bilingual (Portuguese-English) educational institution, has entered into a partnership with the University of Salamanca, Spain. The partnership, established as part of the Excellent Spanish project, includes initiatives to strengthen Spanish language teaching at the school.
The main objective of the partnership is to offer students learning through a project whose proposal seeks to bring the language closer to the daily lives of students, allowing Spanish to become another natural vehicle of communication between them.
“In this way, we promote linguistic mastery, cultural integration and the expansion of students’ communicative skills,” explains Tania Regina, educational coordinator at Brasil Canada.
She says the opportunity to establish the partnership arose when the school received a visit from the author Ms. Maria Eugenia, who came to the school to present the Excellent Spanish Stamp Project, accompanied by Editor Ednumem.
“So we know the project proposal, as well as the possibility of offering students physical and virtual learning tools to study the Spanish language,” reports Regina. “From this meeting, we became aware of the educational potential of the initiative and moved forward to consolidate the partnership,” he says.
Among the main objectives of the partnership, we can cite the following:
- Continuing education for teachers: Colégio Brasil Canada teachers have access to the training programs provided in July directly at the University of Salamanca, in addition to the specialization, master’s and doctoral courses offered by the institution, many of them with part of the course load in online format;
- Student certificates: At the end Each academic year, students take certification tests that function as a placement test administered by the University of Salamanca itself. The assessment prepares students for DELE, the official international certification of the Spanish language;
- Cultural exchanges: The partnership opens the opportunity to participate in cultural exchanges during the month of July, providing students with immersive experiences in Hispanic culture.
According to Regina, international collaboration strengthens the educational project of Colégio Brasil Canada, responding to the institution’s search for innovations in the academic field. “We work to provide students with projects, materials and experiences that can expand their cultural and linguistic repertoire.”
Thus, he continues, the partnership connects students and teachers to a world-renowned institution in the teaching of the Spanish language. “In addition to qualifying our educational practices, cooperation can broaden students’ worldview, promoting their training as global citizens, ready to interact with different cultures and international contexts,” he considers.
The partnership offers the opportunity to experience a language that is today one of the most widely spoken native languages in the world, with more than 500 million native speakers.
The coordinator says immersion can make language development more natural, making learning easier and broadening understanding of the language. “Students begin to build a more meaningful relationship with Spanish, seeing it as a true tool for communication and connection with the world. »
Global skills and abilities
The partnership aims to develop in students a set of global skills and abilities essential to their academic and civic education. The goal is to expand language skills, allowing students to develop Spanish in a natural way, achieving fluent and spontaneous communication in the language.
“Plus, collaboration strengthens other foundational skills for the 21st century,” adds Regina. According to her, among the main skills and abilities developed there is also culture, where students can value Hispanic culture, develop the ability to interact with people of other nationalities in a respectful and conscious way and understand cultural differences as a fundamental element of global education.
“The partnership strengthens not only the learning of the Spanish language, but also the comprehensive training of students, who must be prepared to work in an increasingly connected world,” he says.
Taina Regina considers that the partnership with the University of Salamanca represents an important step for the expansion and positioning of Colégio Brasil Canada in the Brazilian educational scenario. By joining this institution, the school aims to reaffirm its commitment to academic innovation and the training of students and teachers prepared to work in a globalized world.
The educational coordinator emphasizes that the collaboration highlights the concern to offer real opportunities for updating, certification and international experiences. “We continually invest in the quality of educational projects and in the construction of a modern, connected educational environment intended to train global citizens,” he concludes.
