Former national team coach takes over as technical director of club from January

Cruzeiro signed Tite this Tuesday morning (16). According to information from ge, the former commander of the Brazilian team arrives to take command of Raposa with a contract valid until the end of 2026.
The celestial leadership acted quickly after the departure of Leonardo Jardim and designated Tite as his replacement in technical command. The club and the coach’s representatives agreed on the final details this morning and sealed the deal.
The contract was signed in Rio de Janeiro and Tite is expected in the coming days in Belo Horizonte, where it will be officially presented and work on Toca da Raposa will begin.
Leonardo Jardim left the command of Cruzeiro last Sunday (14), after the defeat on penalties against Corinthians, in the semi-final of the Brazilian Cup. The elimination accelerated the reformulation process within the football department, which quickly moved to bring in a new name.
Tite’s debut for Cruzeiro is expected to take place at the Campeonato Mineiro. Raposa will play on January 10, against Pouso Alegre, in Mineirão, in the first round of the national competition. For the Brazilian Championship, Cruzeiro begins its journey against Botafogo, away, in Rio de Janeiro, at the end of next month.
At 64, Tite returns to club football after playing for the Brazilian team, where he led the country in the last two editions of the World Cup, and for Flamengo, where he won the 2024 Campeonato Carioca.
