Internacional finds itself facing a new legal hurdle amid a delicate financial scenario. Showball Assessoria Esportiva LTDA went to court to request the blocking of any club income from the sale of players from the current team, such as Vitão, Gustavo Prado and Ricardo Mathias. The measure is linked to a debt estimated at around 30 million reais, linked to the negotiation of defender Bruno Fuchs, carried out in 2020.
The club recognizes the existence of the obligation and admits that the amount must be paid, but adopts a legal strategy to defer payment. The idea is to use possible authorities in order to save time, given the current financial difficulties.
The blocking request presented by Showball’s lawyers is currently being analyzed by the Court and may be decided at any time. If accepted, any amount obtained by Inter through the sale of the aforementioned athletes would be held in court until the debt is fully paid.
According to Correio do Povo, President Alessandro Barcellos downplayed the political impact of the process and contextualized the situation as recurring in Brazilian football. According to him, all clubs face legal action arising from past negotiations and Internacional has a legal structure to deal with these types of demands.
Internally, the possibility of blocking future income is viewed with concern. Vitão, in particular, is considered one of the main assets of the team and tends to attract interest in the national and international market. A possible judicial restriction on a negotiation of this magnitude could directly affect the sporting and financial planning for the next season.
The debt stems from the sale of Bruno Fuchs to CSKA of Russia in August 2020. At the time, Showball, agent Jair Peixoto’s company, held 20% of the player’s economic rights and was expected to receive its share of the deal. Due to a lack of payment agreement, the company took legal action in early 2021. Currently, the process is in the execution phase, although there is still room for new resources from the club.
