Even with a team full of young people, Flamengo played a competitive match against Mirassol, in Maião, and drew 3-3. After all, the professionals are on their way to Doha, Qatar, for the Intercontinental Cup. During the press conference, coach Bruno Pivetti wished the team good luck in a new international competition and praised the integration with the base, which he said allowed Rubro-Negro to achieve a great performance against Leão.

“Before starting, I would like to wish good luck to Filipe Luís, José Boto, all the professional staff and the players. We hope that they return with another cup. I am sure that they will do an excellent job. From our side, we are trying to contribute in the best possible way, providing more preparation time to the professional team in view of the Intercontinental”, he emphasized.

“It is thanks to this work (of integration between the youth teams and the professional teams) that we were able to play a great match today, against a very strong team who had a great campaign. This further improved the performance of the professional players who were with us, to make the team stronger, and in particular those from the youth team. In my opinion, they competed very well and showed all their talent, their potential. It was a very enjoyable match for those who watch and love football”, he added.

Free and charged play

Throughout the match, Rubro-Negro was ahead on the scoreboard on three occasions, but conceded a draw in each of them. According to Pivetti, the match highlighted the potential of certain core players.

“Frank play, both teams are looking for victory, coming from behind, very high quality of play. Despite the short training time, the players have assimilated our game plan well. This makes it easier for us to do everything we can to reflect the professional model of the under-20s. This departure of players to train in the professional ranks is constant at Flamengo. I leave here very satisfied. I even believe that we could have achieved victory, but we know the strength of Mirassol, especially at home today, it’s clear that we have a lot of potential players, if they continue to work well, they can bring a lot of joy to the Flamengo fans,” he analyzed.

Rubro-Negro turns his attention to the Intercontinental Cup. After all, the team, which finished the Brasileirão with 79 points, enters the field on Wednesday (10). The opponent will be Cruz Azul (MEX), in the quarterfinals, in Doha, Qatar.
