Dolphin Mini, Dolphin and King lead the way among drivers; the brand already owns 25,000 of the 34,000 electrified vehicles on the platform
The presence of BYD among 99 drivers stood out as a concrete case of how electrification can generate real economic gains for those who use the car as a work tool. Of the approximately 34,000 electrified vehicles currently active on the platform, around 25,000 are from the Chinese brand, which represents almost 70% of the fleet. The preference is mainly for the Dolphin Mini, Dolphin and King hybrid sedans.
The main factor behind this adoption is financial. Drivers report monthly savings of up to R$3,000 compared to combustion models, the result of the combination of lower energy costs, lower maintenance costs and greater operational predictability. For those who work several hours a day, reducing expenses translates directly into an increase in take-home income.
But it’s not just a question of economics. BYD models also stand out for their performance and power adapted to intense urban use. The Dolphin Mini and Dolphin offer quick responses in traffic, linear acceleration and a quiet ride, features that reduce driver physical fatigue and improve the passenger experience. The BYD King, with a hybrid system, combines good city and highway performance with reduced consumption, increasing daily range without compromising efficiency.
Another relevant point is the technology package. Connectivity, driver assistance systems and thermal and acoustic comfort contribute to more productive and less tiring journeys. In practice, electrification ceased to be just environmental talk and began to represent a competitive advantage within its application.
With scale, consistent performance and lower operating costs, BYD has transformed its electrified vehicles into a benchmark among 99 drivers. The result is a more efficient fleet, just as powerful for urban use and above all more profitable for those who depend on their car for work on a daily basis.
“Today, almost 200,000 of our cars are on the streets of the country, and when we consider that a large part of this fleet is used by app drivers, we realize that we are fulfilling our mission to democratize access to a product that, until now, was segmented in luxury vehicles,” explains Alexandre Baldy, vice president of BYD Brasil.
“The partnership between Didi and BYD in China has been going on for a long time, so much so that the D1 model was created by both companies for application drivers. In 2022, we placed 300 BYD D1 units in Brazil and then began this very important work of promoting fleet electrification in the country,” said Thiago Hipolito, Chief Innovation Officer at 99.
