The Tribunal of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Or) has a majority to sign an agreement with the Applein which the company will allow app developers to promote external offersallowing the user to carry out transactions outside of their operating system.
The agreement was signed as part of an investigation process into the company’s anticompetitive practices and will end with a trial on the virtual circuit until midnight this Tuesday (23).
The agreement also provides that application developers will be able to offer other forms of purchasing products or subscriptions.
“Alternative payment methods and external offers promoted in the app must be exposed by the developer side-by-side with Apple’s in-app payment solution, thereby increasing users’ options of choice,” Cade explained in a statement.
The agreement provides that Apple will have 105 days to implement the changes. Furthermore, the company also undertakes to withdraw from a legal action in which it questioned the opening of proceedings by Cade.
The text of the agreement also establishes that Apple must allow other virtual stores to open in its operating system, allowing the sale of applications by other means.
If the company violates the agreement, it could be fined up to 150 million reais.
