Caixa Econômica Federal launched, this Monday, an impact hub aimed at energizing entrepreneurs in Rio de Janeiro. The space is in Little Africa, in the city’s port area.
This is the bank’s first hub focused on the creative economy, particularly for businesses that move the region, which has become a new tourist and cultural route for the capital Rio de Janeiro.

The initiative is a partnership with BNDES, Senac and Firjan, which have signed technical cooperation agreements (ACT) with Caixa. According to the bank, the aim of the new hub is to offer infrastructure, training and technical support to stimulate local impact initiatives in creative economy sectors such as design, fashion, gaming, sport and culture.
With this, the bank seeks to enable entrepreneurs in the region to find knowledge, contacts and incentives – including lines of financing – which can help them improve their products and connect to production chains.
— It is a center for establishing connections and building strategic partnerships both between entrepreneurs and partner organizations and between institutions and organizations in the communities surrounding Little Africa — said Caixa Vice President of Sustainability and Digital Citizenship, Jean Benevides.
Benevides adds that the selection processes for institutions will be launched through notices, but companies can now start approaching the hub. Through this, businesses will be able to access development resources, including credit lines, based on their capacity.
— It will be a great platform of opportunities to generate these connections and also mobilize capital, resources, investments and financing for those who participate in these sectors — he said.
The space was installed in the Aqwa Corporate building, with integration with strategic points of Little Africa, such as Pedra do Sal, Cais do Valongo, Cidade do Samba, Providência and Porto Maravilha. An online portal to express interest will soon be launched.
