MADRID, 13 (EUROPA PRESSE)
The Ministry of the Interior of Cambodia announced this Saturday the suspension of all border crossings with Thailand after denouncing new bombings coming from the neighboring country despite the fact that Malaysian mediation presented a ceasefire offer from 10 p.m. local time (4 p.m. in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands).
The announcement was made by a ministry spokesperson during its daily press conference, posted on the ministry’s Facebook page. The closure applies to “all points of entry and exit into the country” and takes effect “immediately.”
Just hours ago, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the ceasefire proposal on his Facebook page following separate telephone conversations with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
“During these talks, I expressed Malaysia’s deep concern over the situation and urged both sides to exercise maximum restraint, cease all hostilities and refrain from any military action, including the use of force or the advance of armed units, effective 10 p.m. on December 13, 2025,” Ibrahim said.
The Malaysian prime minister also requested the deployment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations observer team, led by Malaysian army chief General Nizam bin Jaffar, “to monitor developments on the ground”, as well as a satellite assessment by the US military.
However, the Cambodian Defense Ministry claimed that Thailand continued to attack the territory. In its latest report, the ministry speaks of bombings north of Meanchey, notably against the temples of Ta Moan, Ta Krabey, Khnar and Thmar Daun, and in front of the temple of Preah Vihear, around 5 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands).
