Divergence
“Moraes cancels the vote that saved Zambelli and orders Motta to appoint his replacement” (Politics, 11/12). How could she continue to serve in Congress if, for the remainder of her term, she was in Italy or imprisoned in Brazil? Motta each has a point: instead of acting calmly and confronting the Supreme Court in an idiotic vote, he should simply order what the Court has decided to respect, because, in practice, Carla Zambelli’s mandate cannot be exercised.
Igor Cornelsen (São Paulo, SP)
My congratulations and my respect to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, excellent connoisseur and defender of the Constitution and democracy!

“The Trump administration removes Moraes and his wife from the list of people sanctioned under the Magnitsky Act” (Politics, 12/12). Trump doesn’t care, there is something behind all this. The one who eliminates the tyrants will become Banco Master.
Gustavo Lacerda (El Salvador, BA)
No surprise. It was all Trump smoke.
Marcelo Fernandes (São Paulo, SP)
Lula and his diplomatic team are a reference! They made a show of handling these cases.
Mario Donizete Pelissaro (Atibaia, SP)
I wouldn’t trust him!
Aparecida Alves (São Bernardo do Campo, SP)
There was no need to kneel, give away property, dishonor the country and the people. Haughtiness, self-respect and the preservation of honor were essential to preserve the principles that guide Brazilian institutions. Democracy remains strong in Brazil.

In the dark
“Two days of power outage: Enel says cases are ‘very complex’ and no longer provides forecast of when power will return” (Daily Life, 12/12). It’s easy to blame Enel solely for the situation. Is Enel bad? AND. But what measures have been taken by the São Paulo city hall to prevent falling trees? What is Nunes doing for the city? Mowing the grass on highly visible roads does not constitute janitorial work. He’s a fake mayor.
Rodrigo Jofré de Camargo (São Paulo, SP)
The case requires the opening of a police investigation to investigate several possible crimes, starting with the entirely predictable interruption of energy supply due to a violent natural phenomenon announced in advance, and the lack of investment to provide the necessary resources to restore normality as quickly as possible, given that, to do so, billions are needed from the Brazilian people.
Leonidas Scholz (São Paulo, SP)
Privatization is always a crime against the popular economy.

Problems at the Post Office
“La Poste is going to court due to the lack of agreement with employees on salaries and social benefits” (Economia, 11/12). They don’t meet deadlines, service channels are disabled… I never thought I would defend privatization.
Daniel Choma (Florianopolis, South Carolina)
They returned most of the revenue to the private sector, leaving the Postal Service with unprofitable or loss-making obligations. Then they say employee expenses are huge. Of course, income evaporates from year to year. In addition to employees, Correios represents the national infrastructure.
Ricardo Costa (Belo Horizonte, MG)
Solution for the Post Office
“With the Treasury guarantee, five banks agree to help Correios with 12 billion reais” (Economia, 12/12). The solution is public-private partnership. We should create the postal microentrepreneur, of my own design: the entrepreneur provides delivery services to markets in municipalities with up to 10,000 inhabitants. With lower costs, Correios returns to profit.
Julien Marcola (São José, South Carolina)
There is no credit without risk. This is where Caixa gets into trouble!
