Joaquin Caro Ledesmathrough its company Antea Prévention, is the third shareholder of Real Betis. His package was represented on the board of directors from the end of 2023 until last November, when he resigned. … like the director Antonio Caro Porcuna, his son, for personal reasons. With 8.5 percent of the green and white titles, he participated in the decisions of the body headed by Ángel Haro and José Miguel López Catalán but is no longer present there. Caro Ledesma and her son were present at the general meeting of shareholders held this afternoon at the Barceló Renacimiento Hotel and will vote in favor of the council’s proposals on all items on the agenda, as became clear after the first votes.
Sources consulted by ABC of Seville indicate that Caro Ledesma’s position will remain true to the board at this time given that we consider that the work currently being done at the head of the club is positive for the entity. Furthermore, relations remain good between the parties beyond the departure of Caro Porcuna for personal reasons and also to concentrate on the family business.
This support from Antea Corporación was manifested in the first vote raised during the general meeting of shareholders and leaves aside the speculations that could arise because of this exit. The position on the board of directors was occupied by another major shareholder such as Joaquin Sanchezwhich since the capital increase holds 3.32 percent of the shares.
Caro Ledesma entered heavily into Betic’s capital in the 2018 acquisition process after the agreement with Farusa. He first entered the council, then left it due to disagreements to form an opposition group with Rafael Salas and the Galera family and with Lorenzo Serra Ferrer as standard bearer. This formation was then dissolved and Caro Ledesma reached an agreement with Haro and Catalán and his shares returned to the board of directors while his power within the club grew with his participation in the capital increase.
At the same time, other relevant shareholders of the entity, such as Álvaro García de la Borbolla, accompanied by his brother Juliánalso attended the meeting also supporting the decisions taken by the council of Haro and Catalán. García de la Borbolla has 2.5 percent of the shares in his possession, which together with those of his family reaches 3.1, but they are not yet directly represented on the green and white board.
