The Government of Castile-La Mancha co-finances the infrastructure of the National Hydrogen Center (CNH2), located in Puertollano, with the aim of convert agroforestry and agro-industrial waste into green hydrogen and renewable fuels.
This was announced by the Minister of Education, Culture and … Sports, Amador Pastor, who attended the closing of the Complementary Plan for Energy and Renewable Hydrogen, which was also attended by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Juan Cruz. During his speech, the pastor highlighted the impact of the program in the autonomous community, emphasizing that it has been “decisive in Castile-La Mancha, allowing “strengthen our leadership in a strategic sector for the energy transition.”
The advisor recalled that the plan provided for an investment of ten million euros, intended for the creation and consolidation of scientific and technological capacities, as well as development of advanced electrolysis and fuel cell prototypes. As he pointed out, this deployment placed Castilla-La Mancha in first place a “key node in the renewable hydrogen value chain”.
Among the most notable results, the The complementary plan allowed the direct hiring of five qualified professionals in areas such as low and high temperature electrolysis, CO₂ recovery and fuel cells. Furthermore, Three researchers hired by the plan itself have been stabilizedwho joined CNH2 as permanent staff.
These actions contributed, as explained by the Regional Government, to consolidating a scientific and technological ecosystem specialized in renewable hydrogen in Castile-La Mancha, strengthening the role of CNH2 as a reference center in this area.
Contracts signed
Concerning the revitalization of businesses and the attraction of investments, the balance of the plan includes the signature of more than 50 confidentiality agreements with national and international companies, the formalization of contracts worth more than 700,000 euros in technological services and the collection of more than two million additional euros through national and European calls for tender.
Amador Pastor assured that the Complementary Plan has generated a “tangible socio-economic impact”, consolidating qualified employment, attracting private investment, creating pioneering infrastructures and placing Castilla-La Mancha in a strategic position in the field of renewable hydrogen.
Looking to the future, the advisor indicated that the region is ready to consolidate and expand the capabilities developed. In this sense, he emphasized that Castilla-La Mancha will continue to work in collaboration with the Ministry and the rest of the autonomous communities so that the renewable hydrogen becomes “a real vector of competitiveness”sustainable reindustrialization and creation of qualified jobs in Spain.
