The Ministry of Environment, Housing and Spatial Planning has published the call for rental housing assistance corresponding to the year 2025 in Castile and León. The objective is to facilitate access and permanence in a habitual residence or a room to rent or transfer to groups with limited economic resources.
The call can be consulted on the electronic headquarters of the Junta de Castilla y León and in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León, where the requirements, amounts and methods of application are detailed. The period will remain open until January 30, 2026.
Financial requirements to access assistance
The income of the cohabitation unit must, in general, be between 0.5 and 3 times the IPREMwhich is approximately equivalent to between 4,200 and 25,200 euros per year.
This limit is extended in certain cases. In the case of large families, people with disabilities equal to or greater than 33% or victims of terrorism, the maximum income can reach between 4 and 5 times the IPREMbetween 33,600 and 42,000 euros per year.
Compatibility with vulnerable situations
The regulations also consider so-called situations of unexpected vulnerability, which allow access to higher income brackets provided that the circumstance is proven by the corresponding documentation.
Monthly income ceilings depending on the municipality
The maximum amount of eligible rent depends on the municipality in which the accommodation or room is located.
- Municipal zone 1: up to 550 euros per month for a complete house and 200 euros for a room.
- Municipal zone 2: up to 500 euros for accommodation and 175 euros for a room.
Municipal zone 1 includes the nine provincial capitals, in addition to municipalities such as Aguilar de Campoo, Aranda de Duero, Medina del Campo, Miranda de Ebro, Ponferrada and neighboring municipalities whose capitals exceed 5,000 inhabitants. The rest of the municipalities are integrated into municipal level 2.
Exceptional rent increases
In the case, as Norte de Castilla reports, of large families, people with disabilities or people in particularly vulnerable situations, the income limits are considerably expanded. In these cases, the maximum rent can reach between 700 and 800 euros at municipal level 1 and between 600 and 700 euros at the municipal level 2.
Amount of rental assistance
In general, the aid will cover the 50% of the monthly rent. This percentage increases in certain groups:
- Until 60% for young people.
- Until 75% for young people in rural communities and for people in situations of sudden vulnerability.
The aid is compatible with the Young Rental Bonus, even if the sum of the two subsidies cannot exceed the 75% of the total rental amount.
Maximum eligibility period
The maximum duration of the aid will be 12 monthsbetween January 1 and December 31, 2025, subject to the maintenance of the conditions which gave rise to the concession.
Payment method and tax obligations
Payment of the subsidy will be made by bank transfer to the account indicated by the beneficiary, once the payment of rent has been correctly justified and compliance with the requirements has been verified.
The aid is subject to personal income tax, but no withholding tax will be applied at the time of payment. It will be essential to be up to date with tax and social obligations.
Documentation needed to request help
Among the required documents are:
- Rental contract or transfer of use.
- Bank receipts for rent payment.
- Certificate of income from the cohabitation unit.
- Specific documentation in cases of vulnerability, disability or large family.
Beneficiaries must communicate any changes affecting the grant, such as moves to Castilla y León, contractual modifications or variations in income.
Award criteria and exclusions
Aid will be granted on a competitive basis, based on the score obtained and until the available credit is exhausted. People in situations of sudden vulnerability will be given priority.
Those who have had previous aid revoked for non-compliance, those who are subject to the reasons for prohibition provided for by the general law on subsidies or those who are owners or usufructuary of another accommodation in Spain will not be able to access these subsidies, except for specific exceptions.
Aid will also not be granted when there is a close relationship with the owner or when the applicant is part of the entity owning the housing, except in non-profit cooperatives.
The final resolution of the appeal will be published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León within a maximum period of six months from the closing of the application period, thus closing the process of granting housing aid corresponding to 2025.
