The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development withdraws from this Tuesday the control measures for the surveillance and protection zones against avian flu, established since September, during which seven outbreaks were declared in the southern zone of Valladolid, … according to Bocyl.
This fact led to the declaration of protection zones (from 0 to 3 kilometers around each home) and surveillance zones (from 3 to 10 kilometers around each home) for each of them, distances which were then extended to 20 kilometersa resolution now void, given the improvement in the situation and the fact that no outbreak has been declared.
Furthermore, the decision was taken as expected since, taking into account the geographical and temporal proximity of the outbreaks to each other, the decision to withdraw the measures was then evaluated once 30 day terms preliminary cleaning and disinfection of all declared outbreaks, as is currently the case.
However, the Council decided to extend the resolution by which prohibits the holding of poultry gatherings and other captive birds in the Community, to prevent the spread of avian flu, while Ordinance APA/1288/2025 of November 11, which establishes the containment measure for breeding for the prevention and control of contagion by avian flu, remains in force.
In addition, the measures established by the central government for the confinement of birds remain in force to avoid contact with wildlife and the possibility of spreading the virus. Castilla y León has gone almost two months without the appearance of new outbreaks.
