Barcelona, 15. December (EFE). – From this Monday, the Catalan Generalitat is easing the restrictions in the second perimeter of the African swine fever outbreak, from 6 to 20 kilometers around the high-risk area, where the ban on access to nature will be lifted, which will remain within the 6-kilometer radius of the epicenter in Cerdanyola (Barcelona).
As the government announced last Friday, from this Monday residents will be able to go for individual walks or exercise, particularly in the natural areas of the second perimeter, which was previously closed and includes properties in around seventy cities, including Barcelona, Badalona and L’Hospitalet.
However, in this second perimeter the ban on organized activities remains in place.
Last Friday, Catalan Agriculture Minister Òscar Ordeig called on citizens to be “prudent” and “cooperative” and also recalled that all restrictions remain in force for the time being within the first 6-kilometer radius, which affects a dozen towns. EFE
