This Thursday, December 18th, the General Confederation of Trade Unions (CGT) will lead a mobilization the city of Buenos Aires in rejection of the labor reform project promoted by the national government, what is being debated the Senate. The protest that will be central point is the Plaza de Mayowill involve the participation of both sides of the CTA, social organizations, political movements and unions from different sectors and will have a significant impact on traffic in downtown Buenos Aires.
The CGT marches this Thursday to Plaza de Mayo against labor reform

The CGT called for focus on this Plaza de Mayo from 3:00 p.m.under the motto “We march against labor reform to defend the work of Argentine men and women”. From there, key union leaders will give speeches on a stage in front of the Casa Rosada.
However, starting at midday, columns and concentrations will be recorded in various parts of downtown Buenos Aires, which will impact vehicular traffic and public transport.

-UTEP: Mobilization at Avenida de Mayo and 9 de Julio from 12 p.m.
– Big homeland: Call from midday at 9 de Julio and Avenida de Mayo.
– ASS: Focus on Diagonal Norte and San Martín from 1:00 p.m.
-CATT: Meeting from 1:30 p.m. at Julio Argentino Roca 738 to then join the main column.
– University unions: Concentration on Avenida Belgrano and Piedras, from 1:30 p.m.
– “Right to the Future” movement.: Call Avenida de Mayo and Tacuarí at 2:00 p.m.
– La Campora: direct appointment in Plaza de Mayo at 3:00 p.m.
– APyT Hospital Garrahan: Mobilization of Carlos Pellegrini and Perón, with planned invasion via Diagonal Norte.
– Left Front and militant unionism: Concentration in Carlos Pellegrini and Perón from 3:00 p.m., with its own event as soon as the CGT activity is finished.
Streets and avenues with impaired traffic
According to the plans, the most vulnerable areas will be the area around the National Congress – where labor reform is being discussed – and the axis connecting this area to Plaza de Mayo. The arteries most likely to be severed or delayed are:

-Mayo Ave
– North and south diagonals
– Paseo Colon
– Leandro N. Alem Avenue

Security operations and application of anti-picket protocol
The national government confirmed that a important safety measure and that the anti-picketing protocol is applied with the aim of avoiding a total blockade of the roads and ensuring traffic.
The Ministry of Security noted that the right to protest is guaranteed, but blocking strategic access routes or completely stopping traffic is not permitted. In the event of blockages, federal forces will order the route to be evacuated and, if the situation persists, they will expedite the evacuation.

The central claim: rejection of labor reform
The CGT and the convening organizations oppose the labor reform project as a setback for labor rights. The most controversial points include the change in the calculation of compensation, the creation of a labor support fund financed by employer contributions, the flexibility of the working day, the hour bank, the distribution of vacation and the restriction of the right to strike.
In addition, the project proposes changes in the role of trade unions, abolishes the mandatory solidarity fee and enables new contractual modalities, such as the figure of the independent delivery agent for digital platforms.
