The State Civil Defense published, early in the evening of this Sunday (12/28), the ranking of the hottest cities throughout the day in the State of São Paulo. Once again, the municipalities of Vale do Ribeira, near Paraná, were at the top of the list amid the heatwave that has been plaguing São Paulo since last week.
The capital São Paulo once again broke heat records in 2025 and for one day in December in 64 years. However, it was far from being the hottest city in the state this Sunday.
The hottest municipality in São Paulo was Pedro de Toledo, with a thermometer of 42.1°C. Then, seven other towns in Vale do Ribeira complete the top list, all with temperatures above 39°C.

The first city outside the Ribeira Valley to appear in the ranking of the hottest in São Paulo was São Simão, in the Ribeirão Preto region.
Civil Defense has warned of the risks of intense heat. People should avoid physical activity during the hottest parts of the day and stay hydrated as much as possible. Care is more important for the elderly and young children.
The state government has also advised people to conserve water, given the 60% increase in consumption last week amid unseasonable heat. Greater São Paulo lives under the threat of a new water crisis, with the rapid emptying of reservoirs, like that of Cantareira.
