He Chiclana City Council has taken a new step in its social support strategy by signing an agreement with the Asociación Familias Solidarias para el Desarrollo (AFASODE), an entity that works with young people who, at the age of 18, are no longer under the protection of the public administration. These types of agreements are part of the municipal lines of action in terms of social services and community cohesion, as indicated in the institutional information available on the official portal of the Chiclana City Hall.
The event took place in the presence of the mayor, Jose Maria Romanthe head of AFASODE, Juan Molina, and the municipal delegate of Social Services, Francis Salado. During the meeting, the importance of supporting projects that address the care gap that occurs when these young people reach the age of majority was highlighted.
A project focused on autonomy and support
Municipal aid is intended for the development of the project Our head office, our meeting placean initiative that provides a stable space for support, guidance and coexistence. The objective is to offer young people a family-like environment, in which they can continue their education, access the job market and consolidate their personal autonomy.
The municipality, as reported by Diario de Cádiz, emphasizes that investment in this type of programs responds not only to a question of well-being, but also to a commitment to an inclusive city model. The mayor stressed that the allocation of public resources for these purposes contributes to avoiding situations of exclusion and improving the overall functioning of society.
The role of social entities in the protection system
Associations like AFASODE play a role complementary to that of the administration, particularly in vital transition stages. When formal guardianship ends, many young people face a lack of financial resources, support networks, and stable adult references.
In this context, the project supported by the Chiclana City Council acts as a bridge between institutional supervision and independent life, offering continuous support and a framework of discipline and coexistence similar to that of a family.
Institutional recognition for sustained work
When signing the agreement, Juan Molina publicly thanked the municipal support, highlighting the continuity of support received in recent years. As indicated, this commitment allows us to maintain the headquarters of the association and guarantee the continuity of activities aimed at the children and young people served by the entity.
The head of AFASODE highlighted that this type of collaboration is not common in all municipalities, which places Chiclana as a reference in terms of institutional involvement with the third sector.
A tribute as a symbol of collaboration
As a sign of gratitude, the association announced that during its next institutional recognitions, it will pay tribute to the Chiclana Town Hall. The gesture aims to make visible the constant support received and the direct impact it has on the coverage of basic needs and the stability of the young people served.
He Chiclana City Council Thus, it reaffirms its commitment to local social policies and collaboration with specialized entities, by consolidating a support network which seeks to prevent any young person from finding themselves helpless after leaving the public protection system.
