The leader of the PSdeG, Jose Ramon Gomez Besteiroannounced that the party had asked the mayor of Barbadás (Ourense), Xosé Carlos Valcárcel Dovalthat Submit your minutes as a councilor and as an MLA after an internal complaint from allegation of workplace harassmentaccording to EFE.
An internal complaint activated the protocol
The complainant, a member of the PSOE, presented a double complaint before provincial leaders and across the internal anti-harassment channel of the party. In his writings, he maintains that harassment at work would be a reprisals for having reported months ago a allegation of sexual harassment by advisor.
The party asks him to leave office
The provincial leadership of the PSOE of Orense will meet with Valcárcel to ask him abandon your institutional and organic positions. Besteiro reiterated the “zero tolerance for harassment” and assured that the process would continue “until the end”although he acknowledged that legally only the post itself can waive its report.
Valcárcel refuses to resign and leaves the PSOE
For his part, Valcárcel excluded resignbut announced his abandon the party and denounced what he considers to be operation against himwhich is linked to his signing of a manifesto critical of the leadership of the PSdeG.
Besteiro defended the party leadership, he asked prudence and speed and insisted on protect the identity of the complainant.
