Christmas lighting in Montserrat and other events in Bogotá to celebrate the holiday season

Monserrat Hill officially opens the Christmas season in Bogotá with the opening of its illuminated path. Lights of the world It is an experience that will last until January 12, 2026, and combines music, theater and a spiritual circle that combines tradition and art.

The purpose of the initiative is to invite attendees to connect with light as an element that awakens the senses and accompanies the ascent towards one of the most emblematic points in Bogotá.

A multicultural tour inspired by 11 countries

While ascending the Montserrat campus, visitors will find visual references inspired by stained glass windows and European cathedrals, as well as a replica of a Roman amphitheater, cherry blossoms and Chinese dragons, among other representations.

At the stop dedicated to Colombia, yellow butterflies and traditional lanterns that evoke Candlemas Day dominate. In addition, an 18-metre tree has been installed which stands out as one of the most prominent points on the path.

For the first time, visitors will be able to enjoy the lighting installed along the funicular line from different points in the city. This new attraction contrasts with Bogotá’s nighttime landscape.

According to the district authorities, the attraction is designed such that each station acts as a sensory portal connecting the visitor to different traditions and geographical regions in order to enhance the multicultural nature of this artistic proposal.

The Monserrate Christmas Lighting will be on daily, Monday through Sunday, between 5:30 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Funicular or cable car tickets can be purchased until 10:00 p.m. From Monday to Saturday, until 8:00 pm. This show tells the story of Marcelo, an inventive boy who spends Christmas alone while his parents work. With the arrival of his cousins ​​and the neighborhood community, his memories turn into huge photographs and a stage that mixes the sounds of the 1980s with Colombian rhythms. Presentations last approximately 35 minutes and have a capacity of 6,000 people per presentation.

Beyond the Clouds: The Future We Dream of

  • When: December 13 and 14, then December 17 to 23
  • Shows: 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
  • Location: La Santamaria Cultural Square

The work tells the story of Cielo, a 13-year-old girl who, after her cat Kubo disappears amid urban chaos, passes through a portal to the City of Clouds, a possible future based on respect, tolerance and love. The show combines theatre, dance, music, circus, magic and visual arts in a 360 format with live music. Each presentation lasts approximately 35 minutes and has a capacity of 10,000 people per presentation.
