With the arrival of Christmas, several essential services are undergoing operational changes in the state of São Paulo. Health services, for example, are functioning normally. However, bank branches do not provide in-person service or clearing. There are also changes in public transport.
Find out what opens and closes in São Paulo this Christmas below:
Health
All public hospitals will maintain normal operation for urgent and emergency care, both in emergency rooms and in inpatient areas and surgical centers.
Specialized medical outpatient clinics (AME), Specialized Medicine Pharmacies (FME) units, Judicial and Administrative Action Dispensation Units (UD), the Pharmaceutical Assistance Center (NAF) and Certa Dose Units (capital) will not operate on Thursday (25/12).
In the capital São Paulo, the following will be open on both days: municipal hospitals and emergency rooms; Emergency Care Units (UPA); Psychosocial Care Centers IV (Caps IV); outpatient medical care, with reduced hours; emergency medical care services (Samu); Poison Control Center; AMAS/UBS Integradas, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Emergency and emergency regulatory complex; and SPrEP teleservice channel.
The health services that will be closed on the 25th are Integrated Continuing Care (CCI) facilities; Women’s examination centers; Dental care centers; and day hospitals.

On Wednesday (24/12), the Fundação Pró-Sangue do Dante and Barueri stations will be closed. The Osasco and Mandaqui clinical units will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (12/25), all stations will remain closed.
Metropolitan transport
The operations of Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) and Metrô will be different this Christmas. On the 24th, the operation takes place normally according to working day schedules. On the 25th, the usual operation on Sundays and public holidays will be carried out. The metro will see its fleet reduced on Thursday.
Banks
The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) informed that on December 25 there will be no bank openings and financial institutions will not have face-to-face service.
Bank clearings cannot be made on this date, which includes TED. The PIX will operate normally for 24 hours. On December 24 (Wednesday), banks will have reduced opening hours, only from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Poupatempo
Poupatempo units operate differently on public holidays. On Wednesday (24/12), the service operates until 12 p.m. On Thursday (12/25), the units will be closed.
The face-to-face service is provided by prior and free appointment, which can be carried out via Poupatempo’s digital channels.
Sabesp
On December 24, the Poupatempo, Agiliza São Sebastião, Guarulhos, Vila Galvão stores and other physical stores by appointment will be open until 12 p.m. On December 25, all stores will be closed.
The Sabesp Telephone Service Center operates 24 hours a day, but only for automated service. You must call from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. to speak with the attendants.
Farm
The tax offices of the State Department of Finance and Planning do not operate on the 24th and 25th. Sefaz-SP electronic services can be used at any time.
