On November 10, 2010, the body of Silvia Rodríguez Fernández, murdered when she was just 16 years old, was found in a suitcase in a container in Leganés. It took three decades before the main suspect in his murder, who was … her ex-boyfriend was arrested on the other side of the planet. The Peruvian National Police arrested in Lima Christian Hernán Yong Granadino, alias “Chuki”, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Spanish authorities for the murder of the teenager.
Investigations carried out by the Spanish National Police made it possible to find him fifteen years after his flight following the crime. The minor’s body was placed in a military green suitcase and then thrown into containers near the scene. Christian became the prime suspect when he was seen by several eyewitnesses holding the described luggage, among other strong evidence that pointed to him being responsible for the murder.
After analyzing the information relating to the suspect, a link was established which placed him in Peru. At the same time, through the channels of international police cooperation, the fugitive was integrated into the PAcCTO, promoted by Interpol, which promotes the search and arrest of the most important fugitives with possible location in Ibero-American countries. He was also listed on Europol’s Europe’s Most Wanted Fugitives list as one of Europe’s most wanted fugitives.
Given that the statute of limitations for the offense was pressing, the collaboration of the Behavioral Analysis Section of the National Police was requested. Thanks to the efforts made with the escapee’s entourage, it was possible to confirm his flight to his native country, where it was suspected that he received support from several relatives in Lima.
This Friday, Peruvian police authorities announced that they had succeeded in identifying the fraudulent affiliation used by the fugitive with whom he resided in Peru all these years. Appropriate efforts were coordinated to locate this person, with a positive outcome. After checking the ten-character file, his identity was reliably verified and he was therefore arrested, thus ending fifteen years on the run.
