Comodoro Rivadavia Airport had to be evacuated yesterday afternoon after a passenger claimed she was carrying a bomb in her hand luggage. The woman, who was on a flight to Aeroparque with her daughter, repeated several times that she was carrying an explosive device, which immediately activated the security protocol.
Airport security police established a 100-meter perimeter and ordered a complete evacuation of the terminal. Passengers were asked over loudspeakers to leave the building with their belongings and to follow the instructions of the staff. At the same time, the PSA team specializing in explosives inspected the woman’s luggage, which contained several suitcases and backpacks.
After checking the packages, the technicians ruled out the presence of dangerous elements. After the operation was completed, the airport’s operations were normalized and the entry of passengers on a flight from Córdoba was made possible through alternative access provided by the Air Force.
The PSA filed a lawsuit and presented the case to the federal judiciary.
