Former governor José Roberto Arruda joined the Social Democratic Party (PSD) this Monday (12/15). Arruda, who has racked up at least five convictions for ineligibility in cases related to Pandora’s Box, is trying to qualify for the 2026 election by invoking changes to the Clean Record Law, but the final say rests with the courts.
Arruda’s affiliation with the PSD took place at the Ulysses Guimarães Congress Center. The event brought together parliamentarians such as senator Izalci Lucas, federal deputy Alberto Fraga – both from the PL – and the national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab. In the audience were supporters of the politicians.
Also from the PSD, senator Eliziane Gama (MA) and federal deputy Antônio Brito (BA) were also present at the ceremony. In a speech, the former governor said Brasilia needed to be “rescued” to ensure “the security of the powers of the Republic and its citizens.”
