Congonhas airport will exceptionally extend its air activities until midnight this Friday, informed the Ministry of Ports and Airports and the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). This measure comes in the context of cancellations and delays of flights at the terminal due to the cyclone that hit São Paulo yesterday.
In a statement, the agencies said they were monitoring the service provided to passengers affected by flight delays and cancellations.

“The suspension of flights, due to the strong wind, was carried out to guarantee the safety of passengers and aviation security as a whole. The necessary measures are being adopted, such as possible operational adjustments, for the rapid normalization of activities,” they indicated in a note.
The ministry and Anac recommend that passengers contact the airline directly to request the assistance provided for by sector rules in the event of cancellation and delay. If there is no adequate solution, the passenger can file a complaint on the consumer.gov.br platform.
When a flight is delayed, canceled or interrupted, the passenger is entitled to free material assistance, depending on the waiting time at the airport, from the time of the event.
After an hour, the company must provide means of communication, such as Internet and telephone. After two hours, the passenger is entitled to food, which can be offered in the form of a voucher, meal or snack. After four hours of waiting, you are also entitled to accommodation, if you have to spend the night at the airport, in addition to round-trip transportation between the airport and the accommodation.
In the event of a delay of more than four hours, cancellations or interruptions of service, the company must offer the passenger the possibility of choosing between reaccommodation on another flight, a full refund or the execution of the service using another mode of transport, if applicable.
Reaccommodation must be free and take place at the earliest opportunity, on your own flight or on another airline, with a date and time closest to that of the original flight. If this option does not suit them, the passenger can choose another flight from the same company on the date and time of their choice, at no additional cost.
