
Consumption is not recovering. Sales at supermarkets and self-service stores fell 2.4% in November and 2.8% for the full year.
At hypermarkets, activity fell by 5.3% over the year. Among these sectors, the food industry recorded a 7.4% decline in the penultimate month of 2025, and between January and November the decline is 3.3%, according to data from consulting firm Scentia. Meanwhile, soft drinks fell 13.4% through November.
The wholesale sector is also affected: it is down 7.6% year-on-year and has recorded a decline of 5.5%.
According to a Kantar report, e-commerce will see a 12.3% increase in 2025 compared to 2024. The online channel already accounts for 25% of the total sales of companies affiliated with the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE). This could represent an estimated 5% or 6% of private consumption in the Argentine economy.
