Corinthians eliminate Cruzeiro on penalties and shake the canvas with victory memes

Corinthians beat Cruzeiro on Sunday night, the 14th, and earned a place in the Copa do Brasil final. The match was decided on penalties and Timão celebrated the victory with a joke on social media.

The São Paulo club shared an image of a musketeer, the team’s mascot, snatching a blue and white card from the King of Hearts.

“The King of Hearts is out of the game,” the photo caption reads, a play on Cruzeiro’s nickname King of Hearts, as he is the greatest Brazilian Cup champion, having won six titles in total, in 1993, 1996, 2000, 2003, 2017 and 2018.

Corinthians’ victory came on penalties after a draw on aggregate. During the match, Cruzeiro was leading on the scoreboard, which was 2-1. However, Timão was more effective on penalties and secured a place in the final.
