The ball has not yet rolled for the decisive clash of the Brazilian Cup, but there have already been some disturbances at the Maracanã, the venue that hosts the meeting between Vasco and Corinthians, at 6 p.m. (Brasilia time), for the second leg of the final. The reporting team Play10 is already inside the stadium and caught a group of 300 Timão supporters in an area reserved for Vasco supporters. The São Paulo space is located in a very remote location.
The ‘invasion’ by Corinthians supporters has left Vasco supporters extremely angry.
“There is an area to the left of the captives full of Corinthians fans. How did they get there together?” asked Cruz-Maltino, extremely concerned about the issue of the rival fans’ safety.
But what really happened? This group of Corinthians had friends who gave up their place at the Maracanã. So they thought they could follow the match from there. However, the police arrived and took them to the appropriate location. Rivals, Vasco supporters celebrated the “expulsion” of the outsiders.
“It was by chance that the Corinthians found themselves in captivity. We saw that there were many of us and we gathered in a more distant area to watch the match. That’s what happened. We never wanted to cause confusion”, defended supporter Nilton Stein, when D10.
These supporters indeed had to pass through the host public, but, of course, with a security system guaranteeing the integrity of the group.
Fiel will have 4 thousand fans at the Maracanã
The amount allocated to visiting supporters was four thousand tickets. However, Corinthians, which controls distribution, did not disclose the quantity offered for sale as part of “Fiel Torcedor”, the São Paulo club’s supporters’ membership program. Tickets sold out in minutes last Thursday (18).
Maracanã, with its two supporters, is expected to receive 70,000 spectators for the Copa do Brasil decider. In the first leg, there was a 0-0 draw last week in Itaquera. Whoever wins takes the cup. In the event of a new tie, the decision goes to sanctions.
