The goalless draw against Vasco in the first match of the Copa do Brasil final continued Corinthians’ poor run at home at the end of the season. The black and white team have won only one match in the last six matches played at the Neo Química Arena.
Corinthians’ last victory in Itaquera happened almost a month ago, on November 20, when the team led by Dorival Júnior beat São Paulo 3-1. Since then, there have been three draws, with Botafogo (2-2), Juventude (1-1) and the duel with Vasco.
Before the victory against São Paulo, Corinthians lost again to relegated Ceará, 1-0, and last Sunday they were beaten 2-1 by Cruzeiro, in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-finals, but qualified for the final by winning on penalties.
Commenting on the new stumble at home, Dorival said the Corinthians were mentally exhausted. “We imagined what could happen in today’s match. The emotional aspect was at its maximum on Sunday. Our exhaustion was a little different because of what happened during the match. We imagined what could happen, we were careful with everyone. All we could do was precisely to avoid a situation like this, where there is a lack of energy to develop the best”, commented the coach.
Corinthians had a 64% success rate at home in 2025, the same percentage as the previous season. The team remained undefeated playing at home from August 2024 to April this year.
From now on, Corinthians will only play again at the Neo Química Arena on January 11, 2026, in the first round of the Paulistão. The black and white team will close the season on Sunday, playing the second match of the Brazilian Cup final against Vasco, at 6 p.m., at the Maracanã. In the event of a new tie, the decision for the title will be made on penalties.
