Corporal Maria de Lourdes Freire Matos, 25, was found burned in the Urban Military Sector (SMU), in the Federal District, on Friday afternoon. Initially, firefighters were called to fight the fire, the causes of which were still unknown. However, while the investigation is ongoing, soldier Kelvin Barros da Silva, 21, confessed to stabbing the soldier in the neck after an argument and fled after setting the scene on fire.

According to the Civil Police of the Federal District, after the 2nd DP was informed of the incident with a fatal victim, a team was mobilized on site to begin investigations and request an expertise. This Saturday morning, Kelvin confessed to having killed the musician Maria de Lourdes, with whom he had a relationship, with a “deep blow to the neck” after “an argument motivated by the victim’s demands”.
“After the crime, the perpetrator set fire to the premises with alcohol and a lighter he had in his pocket. After setting fire to the scene, he collected his belongings and left the scene towards his town,” police reported.
He was arrested in the act and taken to the Brasilia Army Police Battalion. The case is being investigated for femicide, firearm theft, arson and procedural fraud.
Also this Friday, after the fire, the 1st Cavalry Regiment of the Army Guard expressed its “deep regret” for the death of Maria de Lourdes. In a press release, the organization reports that the musician has had a career marked by “dedication, professionalism and exemplary commitment”.
