Correios has decided not to renew the R$2,500 Christmas benefit for its employees this year. The amount was paid in 2024, within the framework of the Collective Labor Agreement (ACT).
The company is going through a serious financial crisis. The last balance sheet published by the company, at the end of November, recorded a loss of 6 billion reais, an amount accumulated during the first three quarters of 2025 (from January to September). The state-owned company has posted negative results for the past 13 quarters in a streak that began in late 2022.

MP asks TCU for 20 billion reais loan to Correios
On Tuesday (12/02), the National Treasury announced that it would not grant approval for a 20 billion reais loan requested by Correios from financial institutions. This is the case if the interest rates are higher than 120% of the Interbank Deposit Certificate (CDI).
The federal government’s economic team is also studying how to give the company room to maneuver in the short term, so that it can negotiate under better conditions with the banks. On Thursday (12/04), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said that if this was done with contributions from the Treasury, it would be within the framework of budgetary rules.
The public company also announced the extension of the voluntary dismissal program (PDV) to 15,000 employees. Of this total, 10,000 people would be made redundant in 2026 and the other 5,000 in 2027.
