Councilor Nabil Bonduki (PT) filed a lawsuit against the meeting of the City Council of Traffic and Transportation next Friday (2), which will assess the increase in bus fares in the city of São Paulo to R$5.30 starting from the 6th.
Nabil specifies that the council meeting takes place during the end-of-year holidays, a period during which the bodies do not have formal working hours, by decree. With the request addressed to the Court, the PT member hopes that the meeting will be postponed at least until mid-January.
“Holding the meeting is a necessary step for the town hall to implement the 30 cent increase – already announced – in the price of bus tickets. However, for the Council’s action to be effective, more time must be given to public debate on the accounts and calculation sheets of transport costs,” he said.
The increase was announced by the mayor of the capital of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), this Monday (29). The 6% adjustment is higher than the inflation accumulated over the period, of 3.9%, according to the IBGE IPCA (Consumer Price Index).
The new value of the bus fare will be transmitted to the Town Hall, according to the legal procedure, according to the administration. At Friday’s council meeting, transportation system subsidies and operating costs are also expected to be evaluated.
