
Flamengo makes its debut in the Intercontinental Cup this Wednesday (10/12). Rubro-Negro takes the field against the Mexican Cruz Azul, at 2 p.m. (Brasilia time), in the quarterfinals of the international tournament. The duel takes place at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Qatar.
Cruz Azul is Concacaf’s representative in the tournament and qualified by winning the Confederation Champions Cup. Flamengo arrives at the competition after becoming champion of the Libertadores da América.

Although it is valid for the quarter-finals, the match is worth the title of “Derby of the Americas” and will see a trophy and medals awarded at the end of the whistle. The idea of rewarding the winners of each duel is part of FIFA’s attempt to promote the Intercontinental Cup after the creation of the Club World Cup.
