A complementary bill (PLC) which gives civil servants the right to reduce their working hours by up to two hours per day for breastfeeding was approved this Tuesday (12/9) in the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF).
According to the proposal drawn up by the executive power, the two hours can be enjoyed continuously or split up, until the baby reaches the age of 2 years.
The text of the PLC establishes that the reduction in working time will be granted without prejudice to the employee’s remuneration. It also determines that the servers will not need to make up for lost time.

Deputy Jorge Vianna (PSD) proposed a similar bill, which was approved by the CLDF, but ended up being declared unconstitutional due to an original defect. The parliamentarian worked with the Federal District Government (GDF) to send the proposal to the Executive Branch.
“The government saw the importance of this project. I thank Governor Ibaneis Rocha for his sensitivity,” Vianna said during a vote in plenary.
The project was approved with 22 votes in favor and one abstention from the constituency Thiago Manzoni (PL). The text is now sent to the head of the local Executive for sanction.
