discover the new flavors of panettone this Christmas

December has arrived and, for those who love end-of-year novelties, the panettone and chocotone brands do not disappoint. There are many new products available on the shelves, but with very familiar flavors.

Indeed, one of the trends of manufacturers this year is to bring toppings that are already part of consumers’ daily lives in products from other categories, their own or other brands through partnerships, those already known collaborations.

Bauducco, for example, launched strawberry and raspberry flavored Fini Dentaduras chocolate, filled with the flavor of many Brazilians’ childhood sweets. Brasil Cacau has added chocolate brands such as Kit Kat and Alpino to its Christmas treats, in partnership with Nestlé.

The Swiss multinational, in collaboration with Garoto, is launching this year the Panettone Caribe, which combines a natural fermentation dough with pieces of banana with raisins and the creamy filling typical of the candy that has already made it successful in the chocolate egg version. The chocotones, this year, seem to be following this well-known Easter strategy.

— Our goal is to further strengthen the emotional connection between brands and our consumers. This means launching products with flavors supported by our most iconic brands, thus reinforcing the exclusivity of our portfolio — explains Priscilla Berbert Strafacci, Marketing Manager at Nestlé. — The launch of Caribe was a response to consumer demands over the past two years, being the most sought after flavor, with 41%.

This type of strategy worked for Nestlé last year, when it launched Panettone Charge, with a candy-inspired filling. Its sales were so good that it joined the company’s Christmas fixed portfolio.

Other flavors that mark the innovations of panettone this year are lemon, red fruits and banoffee, as well as particular aromas. Cacau Show sells Panettone Doce de Leite with speculoos, which refers to spices.

The Dengo chocolate factory offers in its charming fabric packaging a panettone also filled with dulce de leche, but combined with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and fennel.

Another favorite is cherry. Copenhagen launched Panettone Exagero Cherry Brandy, with a creamy filling of this little fruit, and Casa Bauducco offers chocotone with pieces of cherry and also exotic flavors like Moscato wine.

But the classics aren’t called that for nothing. The traditional panettone with candied fruit continues to have a guaranteed place in the trade, but in different sizes and formats.
