After more than eight months and 38 rounds, the Série A Brasileirão 2025 ended this Sunday. For the four clubs representing Rio de Janeiro in the competition, it was a successful year, with the Libertadores and Sul-Americana winning the title and ranking in 2026. Check out the team performance.
The red and black dominated the championship and won the title with one day remaining, beating Ceará 1-0 at the Maracanã last Wednesday. The team led by Filipe LuÃs played the last day against Mirassol on Saturday, with an alternative team, while the main team left for Qatar to compete in the Intercontinental Club Cup.
Flamengo scored 79 points, with 23 wins, 10 draws and five losses (success rate 69.3%), with 78 goals scored, 27 conceded and 51 goals saved.
The 2-0 victory against Bahia in this area was crucial to cap off Fluminense’s good season. With these three points, ZubeldÃa’s team reached 64 points and secured fifth place in the standings. While Flamengo won the Libertadores, the tricolor took the last direct place among the Libertadores. In total, the team won 19 times, drew seven and lost 12 times (56.1%), with 50 goals scored, 39 conceded and 11 goals scored.
Fluminense now turns its attention to the duel against Vasco, next Thursday in São Januário, in the semi-final of the Brazilian Cup. Whoever advances will face Corinthians or Cruzeiro in the final.
It was close. Botafogo did their homework and beat Fortaleza this Sunday, but finished in sixth place in the standings, one position below the Libertadores’ direct qualification zone. But there is still reason to hope: the black and white team could still get the place, if Fluminense or Corinthians win the Copa do Brasil and transform the G5 into G6.
Botafogo finished the Brasileirão with 63 points, obtained thanks to 17 wins and 12 draws, in addition to seven defeats: the success was 55.3%. There were 58 goals scored, 38 conceded, a difference of 20 goals.
After a year marked by impressive starts and disappointing falls, Vasco finished the Brasileirão in only 14th place, therefore outside the South American ranking zone. The 5-0 defeat suffered by Atlético-MG added grist to the repechage, as the team only needed a draw to secure continental qualification.
However, with the Copa do Brasil still underway, Cruz-Maltino has a guaranteed place, as their rivals (Fluminense, Corinthians and Cruzeiro) are higher in the table, which would free up another continental place for other teams. And, in the event of a title, the team led by Fernando Diniz guarantees a place with the Libertadores.
In the Brasileirão, Vasco scored 45 points (13 wins, six draws and 15 losses, a success rate of 39.5%), beat his opponents 55 times and conceded 60 goals, giving a record of -5.
