Discover the positions that Botafogo will favor in the market

Botafogo’s new coach, Martín Anselmi, has not yet arrived in Rio de Janeiro, but he is already in charge of Mais Tradicional football. After all, Rosarino’s coach has already established, with the approval of the board, which positions Glorioso will attack in the international football transfer market.

In principle, the club is not looking for wingers. Anselmi is delighted with the future integration of striker Villalba into the black and white team. The beast, which was at the Nacional-URU, cost the Estrela Solitária coffers $3 million (R$16.3 million). Mendoza, from Kryvbas, Ukraine, is therefore excluded.

Botafogo is looking for a defender on the right side. Ferraresi, from São Paulo, appeared in the line of fire. But the conversations have not evolved. For 2026, Glorioso will have Riquelme, from Sport. But this reinforcement, a priori, goes to those under 20 years old.

The club also has two other positions to go all out. A “5”, a void that SAF did not fill after Gregore’s departure for Qatar, and an “8”, especially after Freitas swore his love for Botafogo and 20 days later agreed with Palmeiras. For the steering position, Glorioso has carte blanche from Anselmi to attack Medina, from Estudiantes.

Botafogo’s season begins at the end of January, when the team begins, at home, in the Brazilian Championship, against Cruzeiro, in the first round. In mid-February, Alvinegro faces Nacional Potosí, in the second preliminary phase of the Copa Libertadores da América.
