As at the end of each year, millions of residents of São Paulo take the roads leading inland or to the coast. This year will be no different. According to Artesp (São Paulo State Transportation Agency), dealers anticipate that more than 40.5 million vehicles will circulate throughout the state during these weeks of Christmas and New Year.
It is therefore always important that drivers avoid peak periods, so as not to find themselves stuck in traffic jams, both on the way there and on the way back.
To cope with the large flow of cars, dealers have implemented a special end-of-year operation, under which they maintain full service capacity throughout the period. The User Service teams, Operational Control Centers (OCC) and toll stations will be strengthened, with the possibility of increasing staff numbers as needed.
In the Anchieta-Imigrantes system, Artesp informs that there will be an increase in operational resources, such as tow trucks and traffic inspection teams, in addition to the possibility of special lane reversal operations in Serra do Mar, such as 7×3 and 2×8 schemes, depending on demand.
The Tamoios motorway will retain the standard layout with two uphill and two downhill lanes. Other access highways to the coast, such as Doutor Manoel Hyppolito Rego (SP-055) and Mogi-Bertioga (SP-098), could also be subject to special operations to improve fluidity.
