During a press conference at Maracanathe coach hailed his fourth personal achievement in the domestic competition, countered the criticism received throughout the year and thanked supporters for their unconditional support.
“No one has any idea of the problems we face. Some of the problems didn’t come from within CT, thank goodness. It was a historic campaign. We won every home game and only lost three. To everyone who trusted, thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart. Those doubters and scoffers, good night and sleep well.”
The coach revealed he owes a “debt” to Corinthians supporters for victories in the 2022 and 2023 editions, when he managed Flamengo and São Paulo respectively. “They (the fans) always asked me on the street. They demanded this situation. I managed to repay and pay off this debt. This title is for them and for them. They never criticized me, even when we lost at home in the Brazilian Championship. The party in CT before the final here at the Maracanã was impressive.”
Dorival said he made a promise to the team after his debut, when the CIn the dressing room said it would be a restart and we would reach the Copa do Brasil final. We had a lot of problems. We work every day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Since arriving in Corinthians in April, I have only been to Florianópolis two days to see my family. This team deserves respect and until the last round, that didn’t exist.”
This is the 4th title in the history of Corinthians in the Brazilian Cup. Previously, the São Paulo team also won the cup at Parque São Jorge in 1995, 2002 and 2009. Coach Dorival Júnior also achieved his 4th victory, for the 4th different club: Santos in 2010, Flamengo in 2022, São Paulo in 2023 and now Corinthians in 2025.
