The coach took advantage of the press conference after the victory against Cruzeiro to defend his own work
Dorival Júnior has responded to criticism of Corinthians’ performance at the Brasileirão following the 1-0 victory over Cruzeiro in the Copa do Brasil semi-final. The coach ruled out any differences between the team’s performances in different competitions and described some difficulties encountered at work.
“We experienced a longevity championship, losing a lot of elements in the middle of the competition. People don’t realize that. We didn’t have a group formed. The team was formed a year ago. It is still in a learning process, a period of development. Nobody understands that. Many pretend to understand, others underestimate the understanding. So, for me, it doesn’t matter what she did. I worry about generating results for Corinthians,” said the coach.
Then the coach defended his work at the head of the club: “What we control is the development of a team. A team that reached 13th place in the championship with the second possession of the ball is because it has a lot of good things. I am very satisfied with what is happening at Corinthians. The results sometimes do not correspond to what we present. But I am sure that the team can still improve a lot.”
Dorival responds harshly at the end of the press conference
In his final response at the press conference, Dorival made even stronger statements and said he didn’t care about the criticism. The coach reinforced his confidence in his own work and said that “those who criticize do not have the ability to create.”
“We are here to work. If people don’t understand the processes, it’s not me who will try to explain them. I have already explained all the problems we had. Did I want to put Corinthians in 13th place in the Brazilian Championship? No. We performed well, but the result did not always arrive. Keep criticizing, we will continue to do the same. This is the sixth semi-final I have participated in. As for the criticism, keep it up to do them as you wish, it doesn’t matter to me”, concluded the coach.
