The church service takes place from January 10th to February 28th Tigre branch of the Miter platoon is interrupted and the branches JL Suárez and Bartolomé Miter They will operate to a limited extent between both headwaters and Belgrano R without reaching Retiro. This was confirmed by Trenes Argentinos sources THE NATION.
Trenes Argentinos will continue the execution of a series of works that began 10 months ago as part of the project Railway emergency decided by the state government.
“This is an urgent work as the sleepers and rails are over 40 years old and severely damaged and the line has more than 40 sections where trains are currently running at cautionary speeds, causing delays and cancellations in traffic,” the company reported.
In the summer, two works will coexist. On the one hand, they will renew the tracks of the Tigre branch. On the other hand, more will be added to modernize the signaling system at the Retiro terminal. For this reason, the other two sectors will also be affected. During this time they will try to complete the renovation that began a long time ago.

“The aim of this work is to ensure continuous and effective progress during the summer window, a period when fewer passengers travel on the route,” they said. And they promised that “The continuous work methodology and work carried out during this period will reduce future business interruptions.“.
The Miter Line is one of the most frequently used lines in Greater Buenos Aires (AMBA). The Tigre branch carries more than 50,000 passengers daily and passes through the municipalities of Rivadavia, Vicente López, Olivos, La Lucila, Martínez, Acassuso, San Isidro, Beccar, Victoria, Virreyes, San Fernando, Carupá and Tigre, as well as the Núñez and Belgrano districts of Buenos Aires.
It is not the first time that this route has been affected by renovation work this year. Due to night work and cancellations on long weekends, progress has already been made in laying 20 of the 40 new tracks included in this plan, Trenes Argentinos said in a statement. In addition, tracks were replaced at ten station locations, 14 level crossings were installed and twelve bridges and culverts on the route were improved.
During the long weekend from November 21 to 24, the Tigre branch was interrupted due to the continuity of the same works on the comprehensive renewal of the tracks and signaling at various points along the route and at the entrance of trains to Retiro station.
The Miter line formations also operated differently for four days in September, from Saturday 20 to Tuesday 23. Due to the Retiro modernization works, the JL Suárez and Bartolomé Miter branches operated a restricted route between Belgrano R and JL Suárez/Bartolomé Miter. Traffic on the Tigre branch was disrupted due to track renovation work between Maldonado and Tigre.
The same thing happened at the Tigre branch last August It was suspended for nine days. Meanwhile, the Miter and José León Suárez branches operated in a limited capacity during this period until Belgrano R, without arriving or leaving Retiro.
As part of the comprehensive track renovation work on the Tigre branch, 7,700 meters will be laid in inaccessible sections. 20 kilometers of railway lines have already been laid.
During the cutting, the following tasks will be carried out: Rehabilitation of the roads from the ground floor at Crisolucion Larralde to the Laprida railway crossing and from the Martín Rodríguez site to the Chacabuco site. In addition to the painting of the Vicente López train station and the Figueroa Alcorta Avenue and Dorrego Avenue bridges.
The work includes the renovation of the third rail system as well as the separation and connection of the signaling system. They reported that in the areas where intervention has already taken place, scheduling and relaxation tasks are being carried out to increase the speed of service.
They explained that due to the size of the tasks, the topography of the area and difficult accessibility, they cannot be carried out at night and require a longer period of time to complete them. For this reason, it was decided to continue the work in the summer, when the number of passengers decreases due to the holidays.
The work on the Tigre junction is part of the railway emergency and is being carried out by Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura. They are considering the complete renewal of 40 km of tracks, the intervention of 24 level crossings and 22 pedestrian crossings, the replacement of 4 bumpers at Tigre station, the renewal of 23 tracks and the intervention of 65 bridges or culverts.
In the case of Retiro, it is the last step: uninstalling the old signaling system and implementing the new one with the necessary tests.
In order to renew the over 100-year-old signage, it is necessary to completely shut off power to the area, remove current equipment and install modern infrastructure that will allow for safer operations. During this period and for safety reasons, electrical formations cannot circulate.
For this reason, the JL Suárez and Bartolomé Miter branches cannot enter the Buenos Aires terminal and their service is limited to Belgrano R.
They must also perform dynamic testing to confirm operation to required operational safety standards. And train all signal personnel once the above installations are completed.
