During the reign of Messias, the Arab Gulf Federation created a group to monitor the amendments after the Dino decision policy

The Attorney General’s Office announced on Monday (the first) the formation of a working group to monitor parliamentary amendments. The group will coordinate civil and administrative liability for any irregularities identified in the implementation of the resources.

This measure comes in implementation of the decision of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Flavio DinoIn a procedure addressing the transparency of parliamentary amendments. The AGU will act based on audits conducted by the Controller General of the Union (CGU).

The working group will consist of four representatives from AGU bodies: the General Secretariat for Litigation, which will coordinate the team, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, legal advice at the Ministry of Management and Innovation (MGI), and legal advice at the CGU.

The group was created by a decree issued on Monday, and will last for one year, with the possibility of an extension. Members must report on the activities carried out at the end of the period.

Today, amendments are among the topics of great interest to parliamentarians, as tools to direct resources to their electoral strongholds. Since assuming the role of rapporteur of operations aimed at providing greater transparency and traceability of the implementation of funds, Dino has already opened investigations to investigate signs of alleged irregularities, in addition to determining the prohibition of transfers outside the standards.

The AGU, under the command of Jorge Mesías, also cooperated in the operation and at times directed siege maintenance. In October, in a possible signal to Congress, the Attorney General of the Federation issued a positive opinion on the validity of mandatory amendments and special transfers, known as the BEX Amendments, as long as progress “already achieved” on the subject was respected.

At that time, he had already emerged as one of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s (PT) favorites to succeed Luis Roberto Barroso in the STF.

Since his nomination, Messias has spoken to senators to reverse the negative scenario in the Senate, where he needs to win at least 41 votes for his name to be approved to fill the vacancy on the court. Christ’s hearing is scheduled for December 10.
