Joaquin Guzman Lopez, one of the sons of Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges in a US court on Monday (12/1/2025), months after his brother Ovidio reached a similar plea deal, local media reported.
The defendant appeared in federal court in Chicago in the early afternoon and changed his previous statements in the case, according to the newspaper. Chicago Tribune.
After his arrest in Texas in July 2024, Guzman Lopez denied convictions for drug trafficking, money laundering and use of firearms within the Sinaloa Cartel.
