Jonathan Moñiz Alcaide, alias “El Piojo”, and his brother Miguel Ángel, nicknamed “El Negro”, now enjoy total freedom. The butroneros, who starred in a film about the escape from Valdemoro prison in December 2020, saw how the Supreme Court rejected … the sentences of 32 and 28 years in prison to which they were sentenced. The first of them, currently considered by the police media, together with Niño Juan, as the most voracious criminal in the union, was on the run for two months after escaping from Madrid III. He was arrested two months later in a spectacular operation while trying to escape from the police car in the Colonia Jardín (Latina) neighborhood. As for Negro, just five months after his escape, in May 2021, he was arrested at a gas station in a shopping center in Getafe.
The sources consulted tell ABC that after their return behind bars (Piojo, due to his dangerousness, was taken from Madrid and ended up in Teixeiro prison, in Galicia), they were released at different times. Miguel Ángel, in May 2024, and his brother Jonathan, last July. Both were found guilty and not remanded in custody. What happened was that the Supreme Court overturned the heavy sentence imposed by the Toledo Provincial Court in February 2022. The trial took place in November 2021, amid strong security measures, given the violent history. These are not simple aluniceros or usual butroneros; Their aggressive activity intensified as they served new sentences and were arrested, numbering in the dozens.
They constitute a saga born in the town of Ventorro de la Puñal, in Villaverde, of which almost nothing remains. Of the seven brothers, five are in police databases. In fact, there is another, Cruz, who is currently in the third year and goes to sleep at the Navalcarnero social integration center, and who was not able to participate in the escape from Valdemoro just five years ago, on December 5, 2020, in the middle of a pandemic.
El Piojo, with 50 examinations between the National Police and the Civil Guard, was arrested in November 2018, accused together with Miguel Ángel of a theft in Córdoba. They took away, again according to the court decision, 500,000 euros of jewelry which was then recovered. Furthermore, upon their return to their hideout in Seseña (Toledo), they had a shootout with the Civil Guard. They were also tried for stealing cars in Madrid, Parla and Getafe, on which they had affixed stolen number plates.
These are not the only attacks attributed to them. According to the provincial court, they went to Yunquera de Henares (Guadalajara) to rob a business. With firearms, they overpowered the guard, chained him and pointed their guns at him, threatening to kill him. They took cell phones, tablets, televisions and jewelry. The guard had to leave his job due to the psychological problems he suffered as a result, like one of the employees of the Cordoba company: he was afraid to go out into the street, in case he was attacked. The Moñiz Alcaides were arrested on November 22, 2018 by the Civil Guard in Ontigola (Toledo), a town where Miguel Ángel resided, with the jewelry they had just stolen from two businessmen from Córdoba.

Defense lawyer Emilio Rodríguez Marqueta appealed the decision to the Supreme Court. He said there had been a “violation of fundamental rights, lack of procedural guarantees and concealment of part of the data” during the investigations.
From now on, in police circles, we are monitoring the case where the brothers return to the fray. El Piojo is also the so-called “guru” of a generation of criminals who reside in the Orcasitas (Usera) region. She was the companion of Jezabel Herrero Pernía, alias “Tata”, linked to this type of crime. She was previously with Iván Bocero Vargas, who was jailed for stabbing an off-duty police officer six times. He had a son, Miguelito, 21, who was also arrested several times. The young man, also nicknamed “Piojín”, considers Jonathan his father-in-law. He was hunted down as part of Operation Cerbero Shaguar, by the Organized Crime Group of the Civil Guard Command, while manipulating an inhibitor to steal Range Rover SUVs. It was April last year. He was released, and on Tuesday August 13, he and his mother robbed an optician in the Salamanca district.
When he was caught, he embarked on a chase across the rooftops, until he was arrested with 150 stolen glasses. Tata has a brother who also has a story, nicknamed Tato. They were accompanied that day on Castelló Street by his half-brother, Francisco Pedraza Herrero, known as “Paquito”. He is considered the leader of a gang that was arrested at the end of April last year by the XXI group of the Madrid Judicial Police and the illicit vehicle trafficking group of Udyco Central.
