A family at 84 and 67 Boulevard in La Plata witnessed a grim scene when two armed thieves broke into their house in the middle of the night, tied them to the bed and, after controlling the situation, stole a sum of nearly 300,000 pesos from them, qualified sources said.
The criminal attack was carried out around 2 a.m. The victims, a 61-year-old man and his nephew, were sleeping in their respective rooms. The criminals secretly entered the property and went straight into the rooms to overpower the neighbors.
According to the investigation, it was a “well-thought-out” maneuver. The criminals operated in silence, and once they were next to their prey’s bed, they would speak in their ear to wake them up with the unpleasant news that they were in a robbery situation.
To continue the criminal plan, they covered their faces, tied their hands with tape, and then demanded money from them. The maneuver ended with the theft of 300,000 pesos, personal documents and the theft of a motorcycle on which they fled.
They couldn’t handle the cameras
The criminals couldn’t get away with it. Although they committed the crime as planned based on recordings from public and private surveillance cameras, investigators were not only able to identify the perpetrators, but also managed to locate their homes in the Malvinas district of the city of San Carlos.
At the first target, a house associated with the alleged accomplice nicknamed “El Negro,” two firearms – a pistol and a .38 caliber revolver with suppressed numbers – as well as a significant amount of ammunition of various calibers and magazines were seized.
In the second raid, officers entered the house where “El Santy” was located, where they confiscated a 9-millimeter pistol with a suppressed number, a charger and 17 intact cartridges, as well as two cell phones. The young man was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated robbery and illegal possession of a weapon.
The third procedure was carried out in another house in the same neighborhood, where a relative of the prisoner was identified and motorcycle frames and engines were confiscated with the request of active kidnapping for the purpose of theft. Due to this fact, a separate procedure for concealment was initiated.
The case is being investigated by the UFI and Court No. 15, headed by Prosecutor C. Corfield, with the participation of Guarantee Court No. 1, headed by Judge G. Atencio. The public prosecutor’s office supported the procedure and ordered that the arrested person be first handed over to the court in order to continue the relevant processes.
