The American manufacturer of industrial-scale electrolysis plants “Hydrogen Electricity” announced on Thursday (4) its expansion in Latin America, where it will look for partners for new industrial decarbonization projects in the fields of fertilisers, air transport and the steel industry.
The company will seek to meet the growing demand for electrolysis technologies in large-scale green hydrogen plants.
Electrolysis is a physicochemical process that uses renewable energy to split water molecules and produce hydrogen free of fossil fuels.
The company said in a press release that it has appointed Brazilian CEO Maria Gabriela da Rocha Oliveira as general manager of the Latin American market, and her headquarters will be in São Paulo.
“The combination of abundant and competitive renewable energy and heavy reliance on imported nitrogen fertilizers creates a unique opportunity for carbon-free national production,” Rafi Garabedian, co-founder and CEO of Electric Hydrogen, said in a statement.
Founded in 2020, the company has a technology called HYPRplant that produces green hydrogen on an industrial scale. The solution consists of 100 MW modules and has the capacity to serve new projects advancing on the gigawatt scale in Brazil, according to the company.
HYPRPlant is manufactured by the company in Devens, Massachusetts (USA), and shipped in units for assembly by local partners.
