
The ice and snow storm affects 48 Spanish roads this Thursday, Christmas Day, eleven of which are closed in Andalusia, Asturias, Castile and León and Navarre and 28 others on which the use of chains or winter tires is obligatory.
This is indicated by the report established by the General Directorate of Traffic (FGT) at 2:00 p.m. this Thursday, December 25, during which weather warnings are issued in six autonomous communities (Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castile and León, Catalonia and Valencian Community) due to snowfall, minimum temperatures, intense waves or rain.
The roads closed to traffic are in Almería, on the AL-5405 and AL-5402, in Granada, in the Sierra Nevada, on the A-4025; Also in Asturias on the CO-4, in Covadonga, there are also cuts on three roads in Burgos, the BU-570, the BU-571 and the BU-572, on the DSA-191, in Salamanca, and on three roads in Navarra, the NA-137, the NA-2011 and the NA-2012.
Chains or winter tires are mandatory on twenty-eight roads located in Granada (A-337, A-395 and A-4030), Huesca (A-138 and N-260), Asturias (AS-112, AS-117, AS-15, AS-213, AS-348), Cantabria (CA-280, C-281), Salamanca (DSA-180, DSA-191, SA-203), eleven routes from Lleida (L-500, L-503, LV-5004, LV-5052, LV-5055, LV-5131, LV-5222, LV5323, LV-5224, LV-5225 and N-141), from Castellón (CV-15) and Navarre. (NA-137).
In addition, there are two roads on which the speed is limited to 60 kilometers per hour in Huesca and Burgos, and overtaking is prohibited for heavy goods vehicles on seven other roads in Huesca, Asturias, Cantabria, Palencia and Castellón.
The DGT recommends that drivers check which roads are affected by ice and snow in the event of snowfall.
During this first phase of the special operation deployed by the DGT, which began on December 19 and will last until this Thursday, Christmas Day, Trafic anticipates 8.5 million trips.
