Endrick’s father gets emotional, writes open letter after son leaves Real Madrid

The 19-year-old Brazilian striker is on loan to Lyon and prepares to look for more protagonist in Europe

Douglas Sousafather of Endricktook to social media this Tuesday (23) to publish an open letter to his son, following Real Madrid’s decision to loan him to Lyon, France, for the remainder of the European season. The young striker, who arrived at the Spanish club in July 2024, will now have the opportunity to wear number 9 for the France team and play more minutes on the pitch.

“Son, today begins a new chapter in your story. A new jersey, a new country, a new culture, but the same values, the same faith and the same will to win”wrote Douglas, emphasizing the pride and expectations for the player’s future.

In his message, the father highlighted the importance of the responsibility that comes with the number 9 jersey, a symbol of leadership and commitment in football. “Lyon receives a prepared athlete, aware that the number 9 jersey has weight, history and responsibilities. It is not just a number: it is a daily sending! May this journey be marked by learning, growth, goals and a lot of joy, not only for the club, but for all those who have followed and believed in his talent from the start”he said.

Douglas also emphasized his faith and trust in God to guide his son’s steps in this new stage of his career. “We remain confident that God is in the direction of every step, guarding, strengthening and honoring the work done with humility and dedication”he added.

The letter ended with a sentence in French, reinforcing the motivation to take on the new challenge. “Here, we fight, we honor the jersey and we write history. Endrick’s new phase

Endrick, aged just 19, made his name at Palmeiras before joining Real Madrid, where, despite his renowned talent, he struggled to secure a place in the starting XI. With the loan to Lyon, it is hoped that he can gain more experience, develop his football even further and return to the Spanish club even more prepared to shine in the elite of European football.
